A HireVue alternative built for Indian volume hiring
If you are hiring hundreds of operators, agents, pharmacists or freshers across India, the thing that breaks is rarely the video. It is the price of a multi-year enterprise contract, and the assumption that every candidate will interview in English.
The short version
HireVue is a mature, well-built enterprise platform. It is also sold the enterprise way: quote-only pricing, multi-year contracts, and multi-language support that sits on the higher tier. For a global enterprise standardising hiring across markets, that is a reasonable trade. For an Indian employer running seasonal waves in Marathi and Tamil, it is usually the wrong shape.
Side by side
| HireVue | IndusWire | |
|---|---|---|
| Pricing | Not published. Quote-only, sales-led. Third-party estimates put it around $35,000–$200,000+ a year depending on modules and volume.1 | Published on the site. ₹1 per credit - 25 for a CV, 40 a minute for a voice interview, 200 for a coding assessment. See the rates. |
| Commitment | Contracts typically run two to three years.1 | None. Buy credits, use them when you hire. A quiet quarter costs nothing. |
| Getting started | Through a sales conversation and a quote. | 500 free credits on sign-up. No card, no call. |
| Languages | The entry tier is single-language; multi-language (40 languages) is an Enterprise-tier feature.2 | 20+ languages, ten of them Indian, on every plan - Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Bengali, Gujarati, Punjabi and Odia. |
| English grading | Assessments are available as modules. | A CEFR level (A1–C2) returned alongside the report, even when the interview itself was conducted in a regional language. |
| Who is interviewed | Typically the shortlist you send in. | Everyone who applies, because the cost per interview makes that affordable. |
| Deployment | Enterprise cloud. | Cloud only, with data residency selection. We do not offer on-premise. |
| India compliance | Global privacy programme. | Built against India’s DPDP Act 2023 alongside GDPR, with consent stored verbatim and a grievance route. Read the policy. |
When HireVue is still the better answer
If you hire across a dozen countries and need one vendor on a global MSA; if your procurement process requires a named enterprise incumbent with long references; or if your hiring is low-volume and high-touch where per-interview economics do not matter - the incumbent is the safer purchase, and we would rather you knew that before a trial than after.
What actually changes for an Indian employer
Every applicant gets interviewed, not just a shortlist. At ₹800 for a twenty-minute interview, interviewing a thousand people is a line item rather than an impossibility. The people who would have been screened out on a CV keyword get heard.
Candidates answer in the language they think in. A support agent in Coimbatore who is fluent in Tamil and hesitant in English is not a weak candidate; a process that only listens in English just measures the wrong thing. You still get the report in English, with a CEFR level attached if the role needs one.
Nobody is left wondering. Every applicant gets an answer with a reason, which is the part of volume hiring that almost never happens today.
You can defend the decision. Every score points at the timestamp in the interview that earned it - useful for a candidate who asks, and for a regulator under NYC Local Law 144 or the EU AI Act.
